Our customers sure are gravitating towards those hearty, comforting dishes that warm both our bodies and souls this time of year!
With its succulent flavours and tender meat, Osso Bucco has become synonymous with winter comfort food, satisfying cravings and bringing people together around the table.
Osso Bucco is a traditional Italian dish that originated in Milan. The name itself, which translates to “bone with a hole” in Italian, refers to the marrow-filled bone at the center of the dish. Typically made with veal shanks, Osso Bucco involves braising the meat in a flavourful broth until it becomes fall-off-the-bone tender. This slow-cooking method allows the flavours to meld together, resulting in a rich and satisfying meal.
Osso Bucco is traditionally served with a gremolata (a mixture of lemon zest, garlic, and parsley), which adds a burst of freshness to cut through the richness of the dish. Pair this with a creamy risotto, polenta (a favourite for my Italian wife!), or mashed potatoes, and you’ve got yourself a winning winter dish.
As the temperatures drop, our bodies crave meals that provide warmth and nourishment.
Osso Bucco delivers on both fronts, with its hearty meat, aromatic sauce, and the satisfying marrow that melts in your mouth.
